Overview: To instruct persons in the use of pendant control cranes in the workshop or warehouse, and to provide the knowledge and skills necessary for safe operation
of overhead travelling cranes.
Content: Classroom and practical instruction on the following:
• Pre-start checks
• Operational checks
• Crane signals
• Operating the crane with no load on hook to assess participants ability to control swing
• Operating crane with various loads in open and restricted areas
• Correct shutdown procedures
• Correct slinging techniques
• Load estimation
• Calculation of angles and tensions
• Lifting gear pre-use checks
• Procedures for dealing with damaged or faulty equipment
• Emergency procedures
A written test can be arranged to assess the theory content of the course.
The application of safe working practice and compliance with specific legislation are the parameters within which each course is delivered.
