NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate

Duration: 5 Days lectures (one day per week) + Practical assessment & ExamNebosh Environmental Certificate

Overview: The NEBOSH General Certificate qualification has been recognised for many years as an excellent introduction to the fundamentals of occupational health and safety.  The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is designed to provide a similarly sound foundation in environmental management. Additionally, holders of this qualification will meet the academic criteria to gain the globally recognised IEMA Associate (AIEMA) membership.

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is an ideal choice for anyone who has or would like to have environmental management responsibilities at work.

The environmental qualification will help you to:

  • justify environmental management in the workplace
  • recognise which workplace activities may be subject to environmental legislation or enforcement

  • assess environmental aspects and impacts, and evaluate existing controls

  • support environmental emergency planning
  • understand the importance of reducing environmental harm
  • outline the issues associated with waste and its management

It also provides a sound basis for progression on to the NEBOSH National Diploma in Environmental management.  It will benefit companies who are seeking to implement effective environmental management systems, ensuring that line managers have a sound understanding of the principles of managing environmental risk and is relevant to all industry sectors.

Content:

The course covers the practical issues of managing environmental risk. The syllabus takes a risk management approach based on the best practice and international industry standards, including:

  • Foundations in environmental management
  • Environmental management systems
  • Environmental impact assessments
  • Monitoring, review and audit
  • Control of emissions to air
  • Control of contamination of water resources
  • Solid waste and land use
  • Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
  • Control of environmental noise
  • Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies

Assessment:

The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate consists of two units – each separately assessed:

  Unit EMC1

 Environmental  management

 Examination (to be downloaded, completed, and submitted in 24 hours)

Learners will be required to review a real-life scenario and answer theoretical and practical questions on environmental management.

Unit EMC2

Assessing environmental aspects and associated impacts

 Practical Assessment

Learners will be required to assess environmental aspects and impacts in their chosen workplace.
