Building and Civil Engineering has been designed in partnership with CITB Sector Skills Council to ensure relevance to the sector. It is also jointly awarded with the Chartered Institute of Building (CIOB) and the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE).
This qualification covers areas such as maintaining systems for health, safety, welfare and controlling work progress against agreed programmes, maintaining supplies of materials to meet project requirements, implementing communication systems for the project and co-ordinating preparation for site operations.
The SVQ allows learners to demonstrate competence in job-related skills in their area of work and expertise. Candidates should be in a job or placement, where they are carrying out relevant tasks and responsibilities which allow them to gather the required evidence.
To minimise time learners would need to be away from their work, assessments will be carried out in the workplace.
Upon successful completion, learners will gain an internationally recognised qualification which guarantees that they have the skills, knowledge, and abilities required to carry out their roles successfully. Employers will also benefit from their employees being proficient.
